ACCOMODATIONS AND
LAYOUT:
This
Custom Brewer 52' offers a pilothouse salon, a large galley, two large
staterooms and two heads with stall showers. The interior is light and
airy and the decor is white with teak trim. There is substantial
storage in numerous lockers, drawers, lazarettes, and other storage
spaces.
The pilothouse
has 360 degree visibility and is accessed directly from the cockpit. To
port is a large U-shaped dinette with teak dining table. To starboard
is an area with two swivel chairs and a table between that doubles as a
pilot/nav station forward and an office aft. The forward chair raises
for visibility while piloting. The electrical panels and
navigation instruments are in the forward area and there is computer
storage and built-in file drawers aft. Eight large windows, two hatches
and two dorades provide wonderful visibility, light and ventilation.
The aft companionway
leads back to the master stateroom from the starboard aft pilothouse.
This companionway has ten large teak drawers on the outboard side for
spare parts and tool storage. There are also several other lockers and
storage areas. Inboard is a wet locker and a full apartment-sized
washing machine and separate clothes dryer.
The master
stateroom is aft with a centerline queen berth. There are two very
large hanging lockers and two equally large storage lockers with
built-in shelving on each side of the forward end of the berth. The
forward bulkhead has a built-in TV shelf, VCR shelf, and bookshelves.
Three hatches, two opening ports and two dorades provide plenty of
light and ventilation.
The master
head is forward of the master stateroom on the port side and has a
marble countertop, full linen locker, sink, mirrors, house-sized
electric toilet, storage lockers, separate stall shower and two opening
ports. There is also a door providing access to the rear of the engine
room.
The galley
is located forward of the pilothouse on the port side. It is
U-shaped, and is an excellent layout for a 50-footer. There is a great
deal of counter space including a cutting board and large pump-thermos
holders. The galley has a 3-burner gimbaled propane Force Ten
stove/broiler/oven, a propane detector system, a microwave oven, a deep
double sink with spray and filtered water spigots, a large
refrigerator, and a large separate deep freezer. There is
also tremendous storage. Two hatches, one dorade and an opening
port provide good ventilation.
Opposite
to starboard is the guest head with a marble countertop, full
linen locker, sink, mirrors, house-sized electric toilet, separate
stall shower, hatch, opening port, and dorade. The head can be accessed
from the galley or directly from the guest stateroom.
The guest
stateroom is forward with an offset full-sized queen berth, large
hanging locker, numerous drawers and storage areas, one large hatch,
two opening ports and one dorade.
All
areas have substantial lighting and Hella turbo fans. There is
also red baseboard courtesy lighting throughout the boat.

Construction &
Finish
This is a Ted Brewer sea-kindly design incorporating a
modified fin keel with a separate skeg and rudder.
The hull
is heavily constructed in fiberglass over structural foam core. The
bulkheads are marine plywood secured with double mat on all sides. An
extensive grid system of fiberglass stringers increase stiffness and
strength. There is an external lead keel. The hull is epoxy coated on
both the interior and exterior. The hull is Flag Blue Awlgrip with gold
trim, 2001.

Comments
Night Heron is a proven, blue water
passagemaker. Ted Brewer designed a powerful, high volume cruiser that
incorporates the essential elements of ocean passagemaking and
liveaboard cruising.
There is
a pilothouse for comfortable below-deck level living, piloting and
navigating. It has a large semi-flush deck for efficient and safe sail
handling and dinghy storage. The large cockpit with its full enclosure
make outside living very comfortable too. All-sail roller furling
also contributes to easy sailing.
The
interior has tremendous volume with a vast amount of storage for all
types of gear, equipment, supplies and stores.
Night
Heron is strongly constructed, has great range under power and is
extremely safe and comfortable. Her recent refit makes her an excellent
yacht for immediate offshore use.
Vessel Condition
Night
Heron is in very good condition. We purchased her
in 1999 and have sailed her extensively between Canada and
Trinidad-Tobago. She has been a very good and reliable vessel
providing us with lots of good memories.
